Re: sidestand is too short
the r1100r has a 17 " front wheel, but the RL version has the spoked wheels, and the front is 18 ". It's narrower too.

Re: sidestand is too short
The 18" wheel is the OEM piece - is that what you mean?

sidestand is too short
The sidestand on my R1100RL is too short. This bike has the 18" spoked front wheel, rather than the 17" wheel on the R1100R. Maybe that contributes to the problem. Anyway, when the bike is on the sidestand it is quite easy to pull it over to the left. Not too much of a problem until the bi...

Re: Newbie looking for some help
I had a similar problem with a Yamaha a couple of years ago. New spark plugs took care of it.

R1100R in the bed of a truck
My wife and I have been threatening to buy a pop up camper for years. Last week we found a really clean one for a meager $1500, so we bought it. The wife is already planning multiple camping trips, and suddenly I feel like a deer in the headlights. Is this going to interfere with my weekend rides? S...

Re: First gear hard to engage
Tried the tricks today. I did the early clutch and the shift on RPM drop together. There was definitely an improvement. In fact, I think I popped back into neutral only twice. The side benefit of all that was a silent, clunk free shift into 1st. I found if I was slow and methodical it worked pretty...

Re: How far can you go?
R1100R takes 5.54 US Gallons.....light comes on anywhere between 1.54 to 1.00 gallons left. Book says 1.54 but it really is bike dependent!! ;) Mine comes on at just over 1.00 gallons left.... well don't I feel stupid. I thought it was supposed to be 4.5 gallons. My light usually comes on at about ...

How far can you go?
I pulled in to a gas station on the way home from work today. The trip meter said I had gone 203 miles since the last fillup. the bike took 4.503 gallons of gas. The low fuel light never came on.
I guess I need a new bulb for my low fuel light?

Re: R1100 Remus exhaust
If I had tons of $$$, I would consider swapping out the oem luggage for Givi or Hepco Becker stuff, along with some SW Motech mounts, so I could always keep the same bags when I swapped bikes...

How does the Remus sound?
Is it low enough to allow the use of a full size bag on the left side?
thanks

Re: National Cycle Windscreens
I bought an R1100RL late last year. it had a Parabellum Scout fairing on it. I didn't realize BMW offered a windshield for this bike. According to my dealer, BMW doesn't offer anything for this bike any more. What is the BMW mounting hardware? What does it look like? I am wondering if I already have...
