Unexpected result, or...expected???
I switched my '02 roadster to synthetic oil at 12k miles. Before this, when I was using regular oil, I needed to add it at the rate of about 150-200ml / 1000 miles (which, according to the board, is normal). Now the oil consumption seems to have stopped (or is very low) - I put another 2k on the bik...

BMW Tourance-2 review
Last fall I bought a Tourance-2 suite and was waiting for warm weather in Calgary to test it. And finally here is the result: The jacket has 2 waterproof and 3 non-waterproof pockets and detachable warm liner. Armour is good - it is like a stronger memory foam - reshapes a little according to your b...

Re: Oil Change Caption
Ves, How can you tell for sure that the coolers have opened up? (I have no temp. sensor on my bike) Is it just a feeling that it is freaking hot?took it for a 10 mile ride to warm up the storage oil and make sure the oil coolers opened up.
Cheers,

Re: Welcome New Members (and old) - Introduce Yourself!
Hi, I am Oleg. I was born in Russia 41 years ago, but last 11 years I live in Canada. I am a control systems engineer. I have a black '03 roadster (12k mile service is due next spring) and enjoy it immensely. I've never ever ridden a bike, not even thought of having one up until three years ago, whe...

Re: I'm going into the reupholstery business
Yes, it does limit, but it is still easier to work with warmed up vinyl - it almost molds and memorizes the shape you stretch it on.

Re: I'm going into the reupholstery business
Ves, I also made a custom seat for my another bike (KLR650).
I used a heat gun to warm up the vinyl - it becomes softer, stretches better and makes less gathers.
Cheers,

SS Brake line
My bike has rubber brake and clutch hoses. I noticed on some R1150Rs stainless steel braided lines. Are they aftermarket or standard for the later models (mine is '03) ?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Speedometer died on my 02 1150R
Once I had the speedometer cable unscrewed and disconnected (vibration?) at the speedometer side. Screwed it back with some blue locktite - no problem since then.

Re: Mototechnique barbacks and brake line routing
Yes, I cut the ties and it gave enough slack for the cables, however it looks like I will have to re-route the brake hose. Choke cable and clutch line are tight but OK, but brake line will rub and stretch pretty badly if I don't re-route it. I just hoped that there is a trick which I don't know whic...

Mototechnique barbacks and brake line routing
Today I installed the 1 1/4" Mototechnique barbacks. I think I can get enough slack for the electrical cables, but the brake line is stretching and rubbing against the head light bracket and it definitely wont' last long this way. Has anyone had to re-route the brake line on the outside of the ...

First impressions and path forward - II
So, I put the first 1000 miles on my new to me 1150 (there was 9500 on the clock when I got it). Still like it a lot! 12K service is not due yet, but I since I have gotten no service records from the previous owner - I decided to do the basic maintenance anyway. Changed the oil, checked the dyno bel...

I've just got me the black '03 and rode it home ~500miles in one day on the stock seat. It hurts... I really love the power and handling of the bike. Heated grips were the real savior on the mountain passes. Low COG makes it very easy to move around at parking lots ( I think even my wife will be abl...
