The project is very interesting. I hope that the various responses don’t put people off at this point. There is interest, but more homework needs to be done before it could go forward.

Worth money. I have used a Cee Bailey protector since 2003 and am happy with it. It has prevented cracking that you describe. It came off some place in WI while I was at the BMW MOA rally. When I replace it I will add a tether to it. On the BMW MOA board flash412 described how he makes his own, if y...

At $13K it is not an entry level bike in competition with the Japanize, but is that BMW's plan. Remember they have the F800 series comiing out and need a price point range for them. Perhaps we are seeing the raising of the low end of the R series that is all.

You could TRY a longer Paralever arm - that would change the height of the rear end? Not sure what bikes have a longer arm though: RT?? (the GS one is 5 mm shorter - but that equates to about 2" of difference in the ride height!!) Searching shows the R and RT arms are the same lenght. so no he...

My prayers are with hime. My thoughts go back to Oct 2002 when my bike looked like that. I had a broken colar bone, ribs and fractured knee cap. We both have recovered as I hope your friend will.

Find someone to check it out for you to verify the work is done well. The other thing to consider is the cost of ownership. In this case you may save a buck on the front end with a salvage title but what will it be worth on the back side when you go to sell it? Hard to say but you should spend some ...

regulations proposed for the EU would end sale of parts

This is not a political post but a legislative alert. Bi partican legislation is in the works but your individual Congressman needs to hear from you. Motorcycle Consumers News January issue hit my mailbox today. An article on page 6 hit me hard. Proposed European Union restrictions could put the end...

I carry a plugger when I tour and have used it to great advantage. It saved tours and expenses by allowing me to get my bike to a dealer and replace the tire. That is the underlying question isn’t? No I would not plug a tire and expect to get “full life” from the tire. They are em...

Yes bunkie there are cleaning tips.

The forum is new but many of the posters are long time Rounders. The group started informally a year ago when a group of riders found a similar intrest in riding year round. The web site gives you a chance to share their experience and add yours.

I have managed to go coast to coast, border to border on my Roadster with out a shield. I have lowered the pegs. When I tour I add a fake sheepskin from Aerostich. Wind noise even with earplugs makes me wonder if your problem is with the helmet not the bike. Does it fit right? Look at other helmets....

The question is not how but why. The fabrication could be very complicated. While the headlight could be simple the electrics could be complicated otherwise. Looks are subjective so that is not an issue. Weight. The things protect like ... well they really protect but they are heavy and would impact...
