I passed 17,500 this morning on the way to work. My work has me flying around the globe a lot in the past two years or so and it is raising hell with everything else. I only got about 4,000 mile on my bicycle last year too, which is not good.

2009 Alpine White purchased 4/15/2010 and it hit 2,500 miles this morning. My comfort saddle is waiting for me at the dealer so my miles should increase going forward.

I've now motorcycled 2,521 miles and fifty feet in my lifetime. 2,500 hundred miles on the R1200R. 21 miles on the Honda 230 I was assigned in the MSF course. Fifty feet on a Honda 500 I borrowed from a college friend in 1988, road across an interesection and into a telephone pole. It gets better every day.

Everyone says you should purchase a trickle charger when you get a bike. No one tells you to hook it up to your car though. My 2003 M3 hasn't seen the light of day in over a month and I still haven't installed the new battery I bought for it three weeks ago. I never thought driving that car would become a chore but it really has. It's an ok car I guess but it's just sooooo damn slow, the handling is mediocre and driving it is so boring.

Everything is relative.

My M3 hasn't left the garage in several weeks ('02 M3 convertible).. I tend to use the '01 M-Coupe for errands where I can't take the bike (like eye surgery), it's a lot more bike like in handling/performance.

You're right - it's all relative. Bike mileage the past 3 years has exceeded all three BMW cages together..

I always wondered about the aesthetics of the M Coupe but it all makes sense to me now. It's targeted at people who need eye surgery.

Honestly, though it's a great car designed by engineers, for engineers and it is more fun than the M3 Coupe. However they could both use a 750 pound diet.

Going OT - the coupe is about 500lbs lighter then my convertible.. and has the same engine. > 300 HP in 3,000lbs is serious fun. The balance and seating position are what make it a hoot to drive, sort of a super go-cart on steroids feeling, it inspires me to do silly things sometimes. This is my 2nd one - they are that much fun.

According to my math, that works out to about 10 lbs per HP.

OTOH, the R12R works out to be about 4.3 lbs per HP.

No wonder you don't take out your car very much.

Way serious fun!

Since March 13, 2009 we have 10,100 miles. Clearly not nearly enough.

IMHO, it's the quality of riding miles that counts, rather than the quantity.

Bought my 2007 Silver bike with 2500 miles on clock last May for self indulgent pleasure purposes. Love riding this bike , love cleaning it, staring at it in the garage, taking photos of it...
Did 3000 miles last year, mostly 50 - 300 mile day trips (+ the occasional evening blast into the Dales after work). This year just completed 3 day tour of N west Scotland. 1250 miles covered. Scotland was awesome.
(Will post photos on Photo forum if anyone interested).
MPG is always around 50 -54 (leisurely riding + well toned rider helps ;) .... :) :) )

With rider? And crap on it? I figure mine weights about 725lbs, with a full tank of fuel, me and minimal gear on it - so that ends up being about 7lbs/hp.. There aren't too many cars that can get close to bike sort of HP/weight ratios..

No wonder you don't take out your car very much.

Way serious fun!
True. The cars do get WAY less use then the bike.

Hi, I'm Don, and I'm an R1200R addict.. (Did I mention how WONDERFUL the bike felt on the MD/WV twisties this weekend with fresh PR-2's on it? Wunderbar!)

26,700 on my 07.

I need about 800 more miles to log 100,000 on 3 different bikes. 60,000 on my R90/6 from 76-81, 20,000 on a R100 from 2005 to 2007, and 19,200 on this R1200R since Jan 1 of 2008. Just completed 2100 miles in 4 days on a trip to Georgia. Completed 1000 miles within the first 24 hrs for an IBA Saddlesore 1000. Longest ride up to that point 750 miles in one day. Favorite ride/Most fun ....1. 1431 out of Jonestown to Marble Falls, TX..... 2. 16 out of Kerrville to Medina...3. 335/336/337....The three sisters near Leakey. 4. Fast and fun... 1888 out of Blanco to Luckenbach.
