I know the procedure to match the tumblers with my key but it requires you to first unlock the case to depress the pin for removal of the tumbler assembly.
Is there anyway to accomplish this without the key? Maybe this is why I got such a good deal.

Not exactly true, jas. The bags can be installed on the rails, you just cannot lock the handles. With the handles free you should be able to release the lock. Could be you would have to put a key in it pull it out though.jas wrote:If the tabs are broken, the cases cannot be locked on the bike. The tab locks the primary handle (which is responsible for openning the lids) , which in turn locks the secondary handle which controls the tab that connects to the rails.
I can attach the bags to the bike and fold the carry handle down to latch them to the bike. The tabs would keep the handles in the down and locked position to prevent removal from the bike. They'll stay latched to the bike until you pull the carry handles back up to the carry position. Although there is a chance that the handle could work it's way up and release the bags while riding though.jas wrote:If the tabs are broken, the cases cannot be locked on the bike. The cases do not need the tabs to “latch” or attatch to the bike, and in fact, even without the tabs, the cases will remain on the rails without any real problems. Prior to repairing my bags, I rode 15K miles with broken tabs. It would take a lot of force for the bags to become disengaged from the bike ( if properly attached).goomicoo wrote:Yes, both tabs are toast. I can just use them the way they are but I would like to be able to lock them on the bike....)
