I found something about lock from the web. Unfortunately, most of locks on the market are JOKE...


1) A normal key

At home my lock is a 12 guage loaded with mixed buckshot and slugs (finishing shots). Away from home the lock is a .45 cal when I am within visible range of the bike.

Good luck all you locksmiths and budding criminals.

(I would opine that the criminal with enough wherewithal to acquire the tools and skills to use them as opposed to fumble fingered perps, would go after bigger game than a single bike.)

I had mentioned weeks ago that someone had tried to steal my new Roadster by rolling it away, but my "Emgo" disc lock stopped him/them. After that I had to store my bike elsewhere which makes riding it more difficult (but at least I've still got it!)

I too believe in our wonderful second amendment, but in retrospect, I'm glad that I *didn't* catch the thief in the act of trying to steal my bike. I may have grabbed my 357. and ended up paying ten time what the bike is worth in legal bills and more than likely, been sentenced to prison.

Probably the best defense is to take reasonably security precautions with locks etc. (gps tracking is now an option for bikes) and make sure that you've got good insurance and it's paid up.

Shooting a man over your motorcycle probably isn't worth it. Beating him severely with a bat: PRICELESS.

i never lock my bike if they want it they can have it that way it gives me an excuse to get a new bike. otherwise its always in my garage with my 2 pit bulls ,now thats good security

I won't shoot a guy for trying to steal my bike. But I will try to stop him nonetheless. If this act provokes him to threaten my life, then I will shoot him. See the guiltless and crime-free logic there?

I posted elsewhere that an older friend of mine rode with an empty pistol holster strapped in full view on the side of his bike. His reasoning was any potential thiefs would wonder how close the owner and his gun were and move on to someone else's bike.

And I agree with yjleesvrr's logic. Confront the thief but be prepared!
