Re: Exhaust

I wanted to let you guys know that I am selling a Remus Header for the R12R over in the Buy/Sell area on the forum. Drop more weight by getting rid of the Cat. The header and an after market exhaust together makes a nice "note" on acceleration.

Thanks

Re: Raingear

Take a look at the BMW 1 piece rainsuit. About $100. I have ridden in monsoon rains of the desert Southwest this past fall and was DRY. Easy to get on zippers to open the legs to get over your boot. If it started raining, I was in my gear in about 2 minutes flat. http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?...

My personal experience is that I was visitng a ghost town on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains that was 13 miles from the nearest highway with the last 3 miles being dirt. I got a flat after getting to the ghost town. So I plugged the tire, took out a friends similar inexpensive pump a...

Your first question is very subjective. Some think its a waste of money and others think that it is not. Ztechnik is well respected in the BMW world. But lots of other exhaust out there with same high quality. In general, repacking is a pain. But on higher quality exhaust, it really is not necessary...

Vest

I wear something similar to Michael. A MSF reflectve vest. Their not free. I like the vest because its adjustable, and the reflective strips are really wide on the front and back. I have also seen in the BMWOA magazine a company that sells powered electric vest. The powered reflective strip was quit...

Rear Shock

Have you looked on E-Bay or Beemerboneyard for a used rear shock? Your probably are not getting the suspension travel that the bike needs to track well. I have seen used shocks for under $100.

Pretty much the only time I post on this forum is when this topic comes up. I traded my Rockster for a K1200R 12 mths ago and I cannot stress enough how happy I am with the change. The Rockster was undeniably a solid all round good quality ride. The K12R is all that plus POWER. I'm just over 6ft an...

R and S

I have an R and an S. I love them both as they are so different. When I ride the R, I miss the S and when I ride the S I miss the R. To date, I have split my time equally between them.

You will love your S!

No you can't get at the baffel from the front it is not that long and I would not drill or dremmel the rivit until it is confirmed that it will not cause problems. As I stated before I have the silencer that comes with the factory removal bafel option :!: forgive my ignorance but... other than re-i...

Nice Install

Nice install Mike on the Centech. Mounting bracket looks custom. I need to get a Centech for the Rockster. My radar, Autocom and Zumo are wired to my tail light with in-line fuses. I had to install something similar to the Centech called Tourtech Can Bus Helper on the K12S to power all the toys. Kevin

duke, no I hadn't considered the K1200R sport. TBH I don't kmow much about it but will do some research. What attracted me to the S, apart from the obvious performance increase over the R1150R, was the smoothness of the engine and the better weather protection for longer-dstance rides. I find that ...

K1200S and Rockster

I own a '04 Rockster and recently purchased an '05 K1200S. I love both bikes equally as they are polar opposites. For now, I am keeping both bikes. If I were forced to sell one, I am not sure what I would do. Some days I say I would keep my Rockster and other days I say I would keep the K12S. I have...

I just wanted to comment on how smart BMW is to let people test ride their bikes. I wonder how many bikes they sell by letting people go for test rides? I had a similar situation. I was on a Pashnit Motorcycle Tour of Central California this past April. Cycle Specialties of Modesto, a BMW dealer was...

Put a new tire on

Put a new tire on and then you don't have to think about it anymore. I went through the same thought process at the start of a 4 day tour here in California. My tire had what I thought half life left when I started my trip. On day 3, I was down to cords, 200 miles away from home in a somewhat small ...

Replacing Heated Grips

I need to replace my heated grips. My local dealer tells me that the grip and the heating eliment needs to be replaced together as they are once piece which is very expensive. The friendly folks at Chicago BMW told me that I am able to just replace the grips alone ($20.00). I have received the repla...

I will be guiding 17 motorcycles this weekend on a 3 day Central Coast Tour of California with Pashnit.com. As some have said on this thread, Big Sur is simply amazing for motorcycles.
