Re: FIRST TIME TO SERVICE MY BIKE...ADVICE PLEASE
Go for it. I bought a new socket set, torx & hex T-bars, Mityvac, Twinmax carb-balancer and 6K service kit - and still had change left from the dealer's quote, so the next service is 'free'. I did a lot of research first, aquiring Haynes, Clymer and BMW workshop manuals (eBay), but the most usef...

Too good to be true...
Hi,
Anybody seen, or used, one of these:
http://www.magnumtuning.com/index.phtml ... f69e7c61d3
Its a Magnum Oxygen Sensor Performance Chip - if the claims are to be believed its a bargain, at $30 - but what is the down-side?

What if I run out of fuel...?
Its been interesting reading the posts about fuel consumption. I, like many, reset the trip at each fill-up; I see it as way of checking consumption, and an early warning that something may be wrong. What I want to know is; what happens when you do run out? In times past it was a major hassle to pri...

Re: Knock, knock, knocking...
Folks, Thanks for taking the time to comment and advise. I plucked up courage to run the motor a little more - as the engine warmed-up the knocking diminished and finally disappeared. I suspect a drained camchain tensioner was to blame - not something I have experienced these last two years. A very ...

Knock, knock, knocking...
Looking forward to a life-affirming blast 'round the Hampshire countryside on one of the first spring-like days of the year I rolled my '03 1150R out of the garage and started it up. I was greeted by a distinct 'knocking', apparently from the left hand cylinder (near-side in the UK). Not 'rattling',...

Got myslef a workshop manual, browsed this august forum, acquired the accumulated wisdom of members past and present (thanks guys/girls), bought two sets of feeler gauges, an Optimax, service kit and Twinmax, a...

Saddle sore...
For the majority of my riding I find the seat on my R1150R comfortable, surprisingly so, and apart from a little more leg room I'm pretty happy. However, I've got a couple of road trips coming up so I've been looking at inflatable and gel seat covers like these: http://www.airhawk.co.uk/ http://www....

I'm about 200 lbs with my gear on, and have a Givi screen, which takes some of the load off the front. I've tried quite a few settings, particularly since riding a 1200 ST and GS, and have found two favourite settings - max preload for sharp'ish steering, and backing off 4/5 clicks for a trundle up ...
