FWIW, I have the AVON Distanzia's on my 2004 Roadster, with a 160 rear instead of the standard 170. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z39/colinpollock/IMG_2354a.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z39/colinpollock/IMG_2355.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z39/colinpollock/IMG_2353.jpg The ...

I put on some Avon Distanzia's for a trip to Mexico last month. I got a 160 for the rear and it worked very well for me. I was considering the Pirelli Scorpion Sync, but tire availability with a local dealer pushed me into the Avons. The bike seemed to be much more nimble and easy flick left and rig...

I installed some of these on my R1150R about 2 months ago. http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/forms/Query.CFM?do=detail&q_part=20101%2D02 After comparison to the factory bulbs, I too found the LED's were not as bright as the standard bulb. Off they came and back to the dealer they went. Too bad,...

I'm also looking into some light duty dual sport tires for my roadster. In March, I'm making a trip down Mexico way and wanted some beefier tires to put on the bike for the trip. I'm not planning to take any gravel roads, but you never know... I've been doing extensive searches in the forum on tires...

System Case Lids Question

Hey All, I'm in the process of trying to find a set of used system cases and the large(deep) lids. I came across a sale of some "deep" system case lids for a good price, but I can't tell if they are in fact the large lids or the standard lids. The depth to the middle of the lid is about 5 ...

Does anyone know if there's a replacement footrest mounting piece that will put the supporting block in the right place?? Is the R1100S fitting very different?? The more important question is... Does anyone know if there is a system case available that does not require repositioning the footrest, b...

Intercoms - Do they actually sound good?

Hey all, I'm shopping for an intercom system for two purposes. 1. To speak with my wife who is riding pinion 2. To listen to XM Radio in stereo(not just one ear) Presently, I use Etymotic er6i headphones when I listen to my XM Radio. During my shopping, I notice that all the intercoms that I can fin...

I also use my trip meter as a "mock" fuel gauge. The furthest I've gone on a tank is about 185 miles. My light was on at around 140 miles and I stopped at the first station I could find. I was certain I running on fumes. In hindsight, and after checking my fuel consumption (51 mpg, solo on...

I love it. Just like my previous bike, I was apprehensive about buying a bike I've never ridden before. But 3 minutes into my maiden ride and I knew this bike is a keeper. 1000 miles under my belt on it and I've already dragged the footpegs a couple of times. I still have to outfit it with some good...

Thanks very much. It's good to know that once that light comes on, there is no additional warning. Get fuel or else....

It's good to know a gallon is still in the tank too. I'd hate to be in the middle of nowhere and not know approxiamately how long it will be until I run out of gas...

Fuel Light Question - How much left in Tank?

Hey All. Please excuse my stupid questions. I've only got 1000 miles on my R1150R and am still getting familiar with it. Could anyone tell me approxiately how much fuel is remaining in the tank when my fuel warning light comes on? My old Suzuki SV650 had a similar light. When it began flashing, I kn...

Wow. Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I was unaware that the System Cases were waterproof. Because BMW sold "Liners" for the cases, I assumed they leaked considerably and needed an additional bag to keep the contents of the case dry. Thanks for setting me straight. I've seen the two...

System Case Alternatives???

Newbie here. I just bought my first BMW. An R1150R. All I can says is wow.... Anyways, the bike did not come with any cases, so I am now shopping around for some. I'm wondering if anyone has ever mounted something other than the BMW system cases on a R1150R. I am considering Givi E360 side cases, bu...
