No 50Rs allowed in Iraq

I am about to be deployed for about a year to Iraq and since I cannot take it with me, I am going to have to store my 1150R for over a year :( Any suggestions besides change the oil and plug in the battery tender? Thanks for the help and be safe.

Re: Side Case Clean-up?

Not to steal the thread, but along the same lines - what does everyone use to lubricate the locks on the cases. I seem to use one more than the other and it seems as if its starting to get stiff. Be safe.

I just started listening to my iPod a couple months ago, and I really enjoy the ride more. The biggest problem I have is keeping the earphone in when I put on the helmet. Before the iPod was earplugs, so I wasnt concerned about the reduction in "traffic" noise.

I second the BRAKE! LED tail/brake light. It as easy to install as changing the light bulb. AND it's effective in both day and night visibility. Just my opinion.

Call me stupid

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the key position that turns the lights on and allows you to take the key out besides making me look stupid in front of my friends at work and running my battery down :?: I am sure there is a legitimate reason but I can't figure it out. Thanks and be safe.

One question - if new CWs come with your filter, and you reuse the old one, what do you do with the new CW? IMO if I have to throw one away its a no brainer - the old one. But my wife says I'm not that smart so you probably shouldn't listen to me :) Be safe.

Thanks for all the recommendations and fixes. Been in Fairfax, VA this week and noticed there are BMWs everywhere up there, alot more than here at the beach. I will try some fuel injector cleaner and look for some shade. Be safe.

My bike seems to idle rough after start-up, but only in the afternoon when leaving work. I assume its from sitting in the sun all day and "cooking". After about five miles it seems to be back to normal. As for the bad gas thought, I have got some bad gas in mine right now. I bought it from...

I have become used to mid-40s mph, with the warning light coming on at 173-5. The last two fill-ups, the light hasn't come on until 180-185, which has caused me to get a little dingle and push it over 200 (i know thats a sad reflection of my life when that's livin on the edge). This week, I hit 50 m...

My R was my first bike and when I rode it out of my driveway it was the first time I had ever been on a street bike (yes it came home on a trailer). I have taken the rider's safety course and it did help. I also read alot on the internet about motorcycle riding - do's and don't - which seemed to hel...

This was the first bike I have owned or ridden and I enjoy every moment on it. Mine is does like oil, the stock seat isn't that comfortable on long rides and only gets about 200 miles per tank, but I always turn heads when people see it. BMWs have a look to themselves and, at least around here, ther...

I put the dress shoes in the side bags, loosen the collar, and wear my jacket. Just be careful wearing pants with cuffs though, they have a tendacy to catch on the bottom of the pegs. But like some of you have said, riding to and from work is a great way to start and end the day. I seem to arrive at...

I am new to all this, but have learned that waving is normal amoung most motorcyclist. However for the past two weeks there has been alot of people moving through the area going to Myrtle Beach for bike week and most of them wouldn't wave. After about a week of tolerating their anti-social behavior,...

Thinking of buying these gloves, but since no one around here carries them have been hesitant of buying without putting them on. My question is are they warm enough for winter (as winter as it gets here in SE NC) or too warm for the summer heat? Be safe.

Forgive me for being dumb - why change the oil for storage, if you are going to drain it when you take it out of storage? What whats the purpose of having new oil while it sits :?: Be safe.
