Great additions... looks like you're ready to ride. ... off topic, but from the looks of it, you fried some turkeys this year :D LOL, yes, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas and did some nuggets for a party. Easily makes the best turkey. Even started dabbling in making my own injectable mar...

I love it. By far the best motorcycle upgrade I have ever invested in. The difference between the stock plank and the Sargent is really night and day.SteveK wrote:How do you like the new seat?
If I had to describe it I would say you sat ON the stock seat, and you sit in the Sargent. Love it.

Some New Farkles for My 08 R1200R...enjoy.
All, In an attempt to extend the comfort range and the potential riding season of the R1200R, I fitted some new farkles to my bike which include Wunderlich hand guards, a 22'' wind screen for the Parebellum Scout fairing, MRA X bolt on wind deflector, and a Sargent premium foam conversion. I thought...

Re: Motorcycle Commuter Survival Tips
And sometimes none of it matters. This weekend I went for a quick errand to the local auto parts store for a battery charger for my bike. I was going through an intersection as a pickup to my left coming down the hill lost his brakes and missed me by feet. Shook me up bad. How the guy didn't hit any...

Re: Motorcycle Commuter Survival Tips
Good advice. I thought about this after posting and there really isn't much of a difference between riding survival and commuting survival I suppose. One main this I notice is that when I commute I am going the same route over and over, so I try to recognize the danger spots in my commute and plan a...

Motorcycle Commuter Survival Tips
Greetings all, I recently got back into riding after a 2.5 year hiatus after the birth of my second child. Now I am back in the saddle and went with an R1200R. I also started commuting to work which takes me from a semi rural area to a large east coast city, so I see a bit of everything. I also noti...

Does My Bike Have a Lowered Chassis?
All, I recently purchased an 08 R1200R that had a low seat. The dealer replace the low seat with a stock standard height seat. I was assured the chassis was not lowered, but the more I ride it the more me thinks the chassis might be factory lowered. I have a 32" inseam and can easily put both f...

Don't let any mice move in and chew up your wires. Usually not a concern in the warmer months, but I have seen this.

Re: Finally!
I am in PA just over the MD line north of Baltimore, but I commute to DC where I work. MARC train. I am one of the "super commuters."
It's a nice ride to Baltimore though.

Finally!
Well I finally did it. Went down to Morton's BMW in Fredericksburg VA and came home with a new (to me) 2008 R1200R. She is black and came with SIDI side and top cases with a color matched Parabellum Scout fairing. Just got back from a night ride and all I can say is wow. This bike is just....right. ...

Re: Greetings all from new member/Advice Needed.
Thanks for the advice all. I passed on this bike temporarily and it sold, so on to the next. I have been riding on and off for 20+ years and had an 98 K1200LT, and this was the only bike that I have ever owned that had ABS. I was cut off once by a cager with the wife on the back of the LT and I am p...

Re: Greetings all from new member/Advice Needed.
Well I rode it and wow, what a nice bike. He had the fuel strips replaced twice under warranty and the bike was like new. Unfortunately I cannot pull the trigger until the middle of next month, we are in the process of selling/buying homes. At any rate, I finally got to ride the R and I was amazed a...

Re: Greetings all from new member/Advice Needed.
Great advice. I guess you can tell it didn't have ABS by the absence of the gear ring on the wheel, I didn't notice that at first. Good points on the bike not being ridden much, I hadn't thought about that aspect of things.
Thanks for the response.
