If the bike looks straight you should be OK. If the bike crashed with the headguards and panniers on it was pretty well protected.

As for price I've no idea where you are in the world but I recently sold a 1999 with 30,000 miles for £2000 in the UK.

I work for a BMW breaker and parts supplier. We see many Oilheads with well over 100,000 miles on them. Clutches seem to last between 25,000 and 90,000 miles which I guess is largly down to the rider. They will be the same! Just about everything sold by Wunderlich is made by someone else and re-badged.

I think most helmets are actually water immersable. I've not tried it but if the helmet became too stinky to wear, I'd soak it in mild detergent and then rinse it thoroughly. Can someone else confirm this method as being okay or do I have it wrong? Quite right! Use baby shampoo; soak inside of helm...

Found it I think Top right of the engine and described as expanding element. It has the supplement 95CEL against it which I guess means it operates at 95 Celcius.

[Which pennine roads do you use? I used to commute over from Holmfirth to the centre of Manchester on the A635, Isle of Skye road every day. Nice run to start and finish the day if the weather was decent. I travel from Heywood to Meltham every day using either the A640 or the the A62 over Stanedge....

Actually, I had the same question about the steering damper, or lack thereof. I traded up to the 1150R from a 2000 R1100R, which did have a steering damper. Same telelever suspension design (though the arm is a bit different). So what's different that a steering damper was needed before but not now...

Have a good look at the "stick" coils that masquerade as plug caps. Mine had corroded badly and swollen and were shorting out causing similar problems to those you have described.

Cant comment on the washers at the moment but I changed my fuel filter last week. It took about 2 hours; you need to remove the tank to get access to the pump and filter. You may need a new rubber O ring gasket and I recommend you put "jubilee" clamps on in place of the original clamps whi...
