I've installed the standard R bars on my Rock for just the reasons you stated.

No real problems doing this, around an hour using the instructions I got from another board.

No problems.

You should be prepared to cut a couple of cable-ties and replace a bit further out on the bars, check there's still slack at each lock and you'll be fine.

Just order from the US, I did this a couple of months ago with no problems.

There are 2 different gearboxes, it seems pot luck which one you get but both bikes have essentially tha same engine setup.

Do what I did and put some Roadster bars on the Rockster. get the best of both worlds.
