Re: Windproof gear

I ordered these, but haven't had the chance to try them yet. The top works great though.

Re: Distance Travel on the R1200R

Joe's the expert on epic journey's on the R, but I just got back from a 4-day trip around Lake Michigan. Forgetting about the screen/seat issue (sport/stock for me), the only nit I would come up with is the bar position. For me it seems to make me slouch, more so than my wife's F800ST, which has eve...

Joe, sorry to hear about your mishap. What terrible timing - hope the healing goes faster than expected. If I can help out, give me a shout.

Very nice looking setup you have - I like the color matched panniers and topcase. Here's a link to Don's page for the bracket in the picture. http://www.eilenberger.net/R1200R_Roads ... _Mount.htm

There is an accessory socket on the left side, but the gloves and jacket are going to be too much of an amp draw for this. I just wired the harness that comes with any Gerbing directly to the battery. I leave the plug under the seat and just hang it out the under the edge of the seat when I need it.

This was Jeff's reply to my inquiry last week on the taller screen

We are about 4-6 weeks away from our taller R1200R shield, PN Z2406. hang in there!

So the regular screen is Z2405, and the tall screen will be Z2406

I was just at the dealer Saturday - for kicks I asked what I would get for mine on trade for one of the 07 GS or RT's they're giving some great deals on. $11.5K trade-in (ABS, centerstand, chrome exhaust, OBC, bag mounts, sport screen, and 9K miles). If I were to think of selling it outright I'd pro...

There's a couple of threads on the screens, but I think the general opinion (mine included) is that the BMW touring screen is not worth the $$$. I only used mine once.

For the power I just wired it to the battery with the Garmin supplied connector/cable. I was able to snake it under the tank without removing it, but the BWM connection sounds like the better way to go. I'm still trying to find a permanent method of mounting the XM antenna, which I just put in the m...

Brake line problem/repair

Just a head's up - I was on the start of a week-long trip on Sunday (10/14) outside of St. Louis when I noticed the front brake feel mushy. Awhile later I noticed the front brake fluid reservoir very low, and after I stopped and squeezed the lever some more, the rest of the fluid vanished, and ended...

I used a simple RAM mount with the U-bolt mounted dead center on the bars. Works well for me, but you are a little limited on which tank bags work with this location. I just installed the Bags connection Daypack II with the gas cap ring. Love this mounting system!

Z Technik Issues

So after several hundred miles yesterday I thought I'd share my experiences. After the day was over I determined the noise from the turbulance at the top of my head was more than I could deal with for long rides. This was compared to the screen on my wife's F800ST, which leaves the chest protected b...

Re: Z Technik Screen Install

. It's not going to be a put on/take off proposition, so I'm going to leave it on. Let's see if these pics work: (Yes, I did take the sticker off after I got back to the garage) Why do you say this? Is it difficult to put on/take off? It looks great! Unlike the BMW mounts/screens which is two torx ...
