Quick Disconnects - Are they necessary?
Just like the title says: my quick disconnects failed and I am not interested in dishing out $100 to replace them with metal ones. Can I just run a complete line of fuel hose?

Just loosen the allen bolts that clamp your handlebars down and center them...

Edit: Do you mean "turned" to the left, or "displaced" to the left?

Re: Winter Starting
Thanks for the help!
My battery came when I bought the bike and it had 2009 written on it. So it's not too old, but it's getting there.
I'm running 20-50W oil, so I'm going to drop the weight.

Winter Starting
I'm riding to work on my bike this upcoming winter and I already am having trouble starting it at night. The temperature lately has been 25-40 and my bike will turn over, but not catch. My guess is the battery perhaps? How can I know if my battery needs to be replaced? Also, I was suggested that cha...

Will it fit into the housing of the secondary plugs?

Another way is to feel the pressure in your fuel lines by squeezing, then turning the ignition and letting the fuel pump activate. If the lines still feel squishy and not solid, then a hose probably was blown off.

Well done! I like it!
It looks very clean and professional; the first photo to the finished product is a giant leap!
You were loading those bikes up to come drop them off at my place, right?

Re: Valve cover repair
Yes, I believe a J-B Weld repair will stand up to the job, and it will most likely last you until the end of the bike or until you bugger up that cover further (whichever comes first). It can withstand a constant temperature of up to 500F. http://jbweld.net/faq.php If you have anymore questions abou...

I want to say that you pulled a FD off another type of BMW and put it on your R1150R... but what model...
Edit: Rather, I think it to be a different wheel, instead of a different FD.

Re: Rear Tire Mount by Hand
Thanks for the replies and advice! As far as savings are concerned, I would save $77 doing it myself - the few shops that I know of charge $35 per tire. I did also get a tool to balance it aswell. I did lubricate the tire with WD-40 and also had plastic rim protectors, but I found myself too afraid ...

Rear Tire Mount by Hand
So I decided to go the route of changing my tires by hand this time to save some money. After figuring out how to break the bead and changing my front tire with some trouble, the front is now back on the bike and I'm currently working on the back. My concern and reason for posting is that when I was...

I do not find your son's crash and his decision to go unprotected to be a coincidence.
God has blessed your son with a cheap lesson.
Don't they say you never forget your first crash?

Windshield Mounting Kits
So a while back I had a little spill that caused my windshield to come off. One of the mounting brackets became bent and the retaining rubber screws/thingies were pretty trashed as well. It's this same windshield: http://gallery.drfaulken.com/d/4862-1/steves+pics+008.jpg Can anyone tell me where I c...

That is a foot of 5/16" 100 PSI Gates submersible FI hose - $22.00.
It is rated as R10 or better.
Free shipping too!
Edit: Also, as a reference to the cost of R9 hose, I got some at O'Reilly's @ $6 per foot, 180 PSI.

Re: Bike won't start 150 miles after fuel filter mod!
Thanks for the advice and information, macx and boxermania. I did indeed know that I was doing something I shouldn't, but I never expected that it would turn around and bite me so quickly! It turned out that the hose became completely detached from the fuel pump. I ended up taking the tank of...

Bike won't start 150 miles after fuel filter mod!
So last week I decided to tackle the fuel filter mod and successfully completed it, fueled up, and went riding several times without problems. After my second fill-up, she fired up and I rode off to work directly from the pump. I killed the engine after the approx. 13 mile ride to work and she sat f...

Hey Cameron, it looks like we've got the same bike, excluding ABS. :) I'm actually in Memphis myself (the Cordova area) and I would be more than happy to show you what I know. Another alternative is searching these boards for tutorials and how-to guides; there's some really great information in that...
